Embers in Ashes: Discovering the Soul of the Dominican Republic

        Earlier this year, I expressed to a friend my interest in using photography to help missions and non-profit work. He, in turn, told me about an opportunity: 2 weeks in the D.R., 30 people reaching out to orphans, prostitutes, people living in poverty, and using my camera to capture it. Despite my growing desire to travel and to use photography in a photojournalistic capacity, I was on the fence about going for some time (mostly due to finances). But with the encouragement of many friends, I finally decided to just go.
